How I Started

I started my career in the finance and accounting industry and transitioned to the staffing industry in 2004, working in the corporate arena for over 18 years. I’ve held leadership positions at 500 fortune staffing firms and have experience leading my teams to exceed company financial goals. While working as a Director at a large staffing and recruiting corporation, I realized that in order to make a true impact on people, their livelihoods and community, I needed to start my own business and focus that business on what really matters – people.

My Leap of Faith

I, along-side my partner and husband Jayson Mercurius, decided to take a leap of faith in the midst of the worst economy since the Great Depression and left Corporate America to launch our own strategic staffing and recruiting firm in 2011. I now serve as the President and Co-founder of JLM Strategic Talent Partners (JLM). JLM specializes in providing professional talent to the construction, infrastructure, and transportation industries.

It was my vision to start a firm that focuses on people and community first. I understood that people are the world’s greatest asset and I take caring for their livelihoods very seriously. My extensive experience in the staffing and recruiting industry contributed to becoming a visionary leader who recognizes individual needs in the context of the current Los Angeles County workforce climate.

Giving Back

I’m also the Co-founder of Career Excellence Academy (CEA). As a
compliment to JLM, I co-founded this training and consulting firm that offers a free 8-week seminar bridge class to individuals in the community that have an interest in starting professional careers in the construction, infrastructure, or transportation industry. CEA partners with LA Trade Tech College and industry subject matter experts from major prime contractors to teach the courses and network with students seeking job opportunities. CEA is also part of the Careers by Design LA (CDLA) public-private partnership. CEA is also part of the Careers by Design LA (CDLA) public-private partnership with the LA City Mayor’s Office.

Education & Family

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, Accounting, and Human Resources from California State University, Fullerton.

Aside from being a female minority small business owner, I am a mother of two adult children and one rambunctious seven year old. It’s my children who motivate me to work hard towards developing and empowering the national workforce and communities to keep raising their socio-economic status through connecting individuals to careers and training opportunities.
